More than 10,000 fans walked past the open casket of beloved
Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell during a public viewing at
Comerica Park.

For generations of Detroit Tigers fans, it was the voice that
kept them connected to their baseball heroes. In telling those
tales — low points and the highs — broadcaster Ernie Harwell
became a legend.

A public viewing for Ernie Harwell will be held at Comerica
Park. The Detroit Tigers said in a release that the viewing will
begin at 7 a.m. Thursday and be held at Gate A. Free parking will
be available in lots 1, 2 and 3.

Longtime Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell, beloved by
generations of fans who grew up listening to his rich voice, has
died after a months-long battle with cancer. He was 92.
